The Chicago Executive Airport wants to install bumpers on either end of its busy runway to prevent airplanes from rolling off onto streets and grass areas. The cost will be $12 million, although state and federal grants will pay for all but $300,000. The system will last 20 years and is used at O’Hare International and Midway airports.
