We’ll start with what is almost a given: Chicago has one of the great museum collections in the world. As a group, our leading cultural institutions deliver some of the most meaningful, innovative and intelligent exhibits the museum world has to offer. But nothing is perfect. Lurking in their cavernous halls are also some clunkers. Holdovers from an earlier time that have managed to avoid being replaced or retooled. Homages to industries that have changed since the tribute was paid. Displays designed more to please wealthy donors than the viewing public.
