A teen who police said apparently was protecting his mother is in custody after stabbing her boyfriend to death, authorities said this morning. The mother and her boyfriend had been fighting Sunday evening in their residence in the city’s Washington Park neighborhood, police said. At about 9:15 p.m., police were called to the 6000 block of South Michigan Avenue for a domestic disturbance, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines. There police found Christopher Nettles, 43, of the 6200 block of South Kimbark Avenue, stabbed to death, Gaines said. The victim, who police said lived at the residence with his girlfriend and her son, allegedly got into a physical fight with the girlfriend, Gaines said. The son intervened and stabbed the boyfriend, Gaines said. The teen, whose age was not immediately available, is in police custody, Gaines said. — Deanese Williams-Harris
