With the flick of a switch, the marquee at the Des Plaines Theatre in downtown came alive at 8 p.m. Friday to the roaring claps of an appreciative crowd. After being dark for nearly two years while workers undertook a massive renovation and restoration project, the theater’s reopening was greeted with perhaps as much anticipation as the first time around 86 years ago.
