Michelle Konecki watched the house she has lived in for almost 5 years burn Wednesday. The Christmas tree in her living room caught fire shortly after 11:30 a.m., and the flames quickly spread to a nearby couch. Elgin’s code department ultimately declared the house uninhabitable.
