Derek Wagner, 12, of Geneva took ninth in the 2012 U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships in December, accomplishing his goal of finishing in the top 10 after finishing 17th last year. His figure skating coach, Denise Myers of Twin Lakes, Wis., says Derek has made a qualitative jump in his skating this past year. “People are looking at him like, ‘Wow. Where did he come from?’”
