A much anticipated Amtrak route will include Elgin and Rockford, but snubs McHenry County. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced Friday it had selected a proposed southern route that runs from Chicago, through Elgin and Rockford, to Dubuque, Iowa.
