Owners of Elgin’s Grand Victoria Casino, which until last year was the hottest casino in Illinois, are teaming up with the city of Elgin to explore whether to build a multipurpose entertainment facility that could help them better compete with the new Rivers Casino in Des Plaines.

Four-day Martin Luther King Jr. celebration starts Friday in Elgin

The City of Elgin will host its most ambitious year of Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations yet with four days of events planned as well as a communitywide food drive. A talent show kick-off Friday and a youth day of service Monday have expanded the standard prayer programs the city has sponsored for almost 30 years.
