At the funeral Saturday for Spc. Christopher Patterson, 20, of North Aurora, who was killed Jan. 6 in Afghanistan, two governors and his father delivered eulogies. “He was about everybody else,” Robert Patterson said through long, anguished pauses. “He was never discouraged. He was always there to cheer people up.”

Naperville to shut down red-light cameras

Motorists in Naperville will face a little less scrutiny beginning Tuesday as the city officially pulls the plug on its three red-light cameras. The cameras have been operating for three years at the intersections of Route 59 and North Aurora Road, Route 59 and Diehl Road, and Ogden and Aurora avenues.

THEATER REVIEW: “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play” at American Theater Company ★★★ Since 2009, the North Side of Chicago has housed two annual, golden age of radio-style productions of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a consequence of a split that took place between American Theater Company and its founding ensemble members, who re-formed American Blues Theater. When asked by readers which one they should see, my stock response has been, “Either, they’re both very good.”
