Show-Me’s, a Naperville restaurant and sports bar that opened amid protests, has shut its doors. Co-owner Jay Madipadaga said there were mechanical problems with the building and issues with the restaurant’s original manager, but he also said business wasn’t what it could be, in part because of the controversy. “I don’t think we got a fair chance from people,” Madipadaga said.

Elgin race recognized by Powerboat Superleague

Elgin’s first powerboat racing event, which took place June 17-19 on the Fox River, has been named best new site in the Powerboat Superleague. Local race organizer Jim McGrath also earned the title of Sportsman of the Year for his racing prowess and success as a promoter.
