From outrageous European directors to Chicagoans whose work we’ve come to trust over the long haul, the winter theater season in Chicago offers a variety of attractions, including a notable number of new works and American premieres, along with significantly challenging new productions. With a nod to the many appealing shows not on this list ¿ and the usual disclaimer that I never know for sure until I’ve seen ‘em ¿ here, in chronological order, is a selective list of 10 shows opening in Chicago between now and the end of March that look especially worthy of a slot on your 2012 theatergoing calendar.
